Outlook

The sky is not falling! In spite of the media declarations regarding "rising interest rates," at the time of this writing, mortgage rates have not gone up, but rather have slipped down just a bit.

If you have a home equity line of credit, your loan rate will go up .25% in the near future.

Now that the "prime rate" has gone up .25%, you can also expect a similar increase in credit card rates. And, people with ARM (adjustable rate mortgage) loans can expect a slight increase in their next adjustment cycle.

The good news is that the mortgage industry continues to develop new products to make the dream of home ownership available to more and more people. Call me for details of some of the many creative ways that are available for real estate financing.

My perspective on growing older…

  1. Eventually you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
  2. The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
  3. When I am jealous of the young folks, I recall Trigonometry.
  4. I don't recall ever being the ideal age, I was either too young to be taken seriously, or, I was too old to be in touch with the times.
  5. I don't know how I got over the hill without ever getting to the top.
  6. If you can't learn to laugh at your mistakes, you may not have anything to laugh at when you get older.
  7. Being young is exciting, but being older is much more comfortable.
  8. Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know that I look this way because of the journey I have taken, some of which was not a smooth paved road.

The 2004 Conforming Loan Limit of $333,700
is the break point before loans fall into Jumbo rates which are at a higher rate. This figure is up $11,000 from 2003.

What is Mid-Life Crisis ?

A mid-life crisis is really a time of transition in the life of an individual. It involves very normal questions and a general reevaluation of ones' life. While we tend to view this transition as often one of crisis, it is a normal developmental life stage. It is essentially positive and has the specific goal of facilitating the process of becoming a "whole" person. Saying it is normal means that it cannot be avoided. Live long enough and you will encounter it. As you did not avoid adolescence, so you will not avoid midlife.

Adolescence was meant to transform you from a child to an adult. It was not meant to be fun. Midlife is also intended to transform you. You may not enjoy midlife. Midlife is trying to take you some place positive. It is trying to guide you to psychological and spiritual wholeness. At midlife you are only halfway to that goal. More growth is needed but you may have become comfortably stuck where you are. Some characteristics are:

It's Half Over...The fundamental thought that appears to elicit this transition in an individual's life is the thought that life is half over. Gone is the sense that life goes on forever and that there will always be time to complete various tasks or achieve life-long goals.

Who Am I… Often this juncture causes a self evaluation. If the individual has developed their identity around a career or certain life goals, that identity may be significantly altered or lost altogether.
